Oaks in Honor of the Defenders: Mykolaiv’s Liski Park Welcomes 32 New Trees
The saplings were donated by Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, and municipal workers will take care of them
Thirty-two young oak trees have been planted in Lisky Park in Mykolaiv in honor of Ukrainian defenders. The initiative combined greening the city with commemorating their memory.
The saplings for Mykolaiv were donated by colleagues from the Ivano-Frankivsk region. The event was jointly organized by:
- the Voluntary Civil Protection Unit of the Mykolaiv City Territorial Community;
- the City Council’s Veterans Affairs Department.
The following took part in planting the trees:
- veterans;
- families of fallen heroes;
- City Council representatives;
- representatives of public organizations.
Specialists from Mykolaiv Parks Municipal Enterprise supported the preparation and planting. They prepared the soil, created the necessary conditions for planting, and guided participants through every stage.
“We are holding this initiative for the future of our city, so that it can grow and become even better. At the same time, it is a tribute to and remembrance of all the defenders who are fighting for Ukraine’s freedom at the cost of their lives. The oak is a symbol of strength, and Ukrainians are showing extraordinary resilience today. So we will endure and prevail,” said Valentyn Horban, deputy head of the Zavodskyi District Organization of Veterans of Afghanistan and the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Mykolaiv.
Specialists from Mykolaiv Parks Municipal Enterprise will regularly care for the new plantings. This will help the young oaks take root so they can adorn the park for many years to come.
