A young man broke the lock and stole his neighbor’s motorcycle in Mykolaiv Oblast

The Forte motorcycle was stolen from a locked utility room in the village of Sekretarka, in the Kryve Ozero community of Mykolaiv Oblast. Its 65-year-old owner reported the vehicle missing to police in late September 2026. Her 18-year-old neighbor has been notified of suspicion in the case.

The woman’s report was taken at Police Station No. 3 of the Pervomaisk District Department. The owner explained that she had left the motorcycle in a locked room without the ignition key. An investigative and operational team from the local police station inspected the scene: a forensic expert collected physical evidence, which was then seized by an investigator.

Officers established that the victim’s young fellow villager was involved in the crime. According to police, the young man broke the lock on the utility room, connected the ignition wires, and started the motorcycle without a key. He rode it for a while, then left it with a relative in a neighboring village for safekeeping.

He told his relative that he had supposedly bought the motorcycle on credit from an acquaintance. According to his account, he planned to work in another region to earn money and pay for the vehicle.

Police tracked the young man down in Kyiv. The motorcycle was also found and seized. Investigators will return it to its owner after the procedural steps are completed.

With the procedural guidance of the Kryve Ozero Department of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified the young man of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine—the unlawful taking of a vehicle involving entry into a building or other storage facility. The suspect faces up to 8 years in prison, with possible confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
