Four new trucks from Denmark will help rebuild Mykolaiv
The equipment will be handed over to “Mykolaiv Parks” and DEZ “Pilot”
To improve, repair and restore urban infrastructure, Mykolaiv has received 4 new JAC emergency repair trucks from international partners. The addition to the fleet is expected to help municipal workers carry out day-to-day tasks faster and respond more promptly to the city’s needs.
The vehicles will be handed over to the following municipal enterprises:
- Mykolaiv Parks;
- DEZ Pilot.
Each vehicle has a double cab with 6 seats and a flatbed with a tarpaulin cover. This will allow a repair crew to travel together with their tools and the necessary materials. The trucks are equipped with diesel engines and have a payload capacity of 1.35 tonnes.
The assistance was provided through the project “Partnership for the Safety and Resilience of Communities in Mykolaiv, Ukraine”. Responsibilities for its implementation are divided as follows:
- The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) is implementing the project under the Ukrainian Transition Program;
- the government of Denmark is providing financial support;
- the Mykolaiv Development Agency is coordinating the project on behalf of the city.
The trucks were handed over to the city by representatives of the Danish Embassy:
- Anna Maria Madsen — Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Denmark in Ukraine;
- Viktor Jørgen Blikfeldt — Head of the Danish Embassy Office in Mykolaiv.
“This is my first visit to Mykolaiv. Although we have met before, it is a special pleasure for me to meet here. I hope these trucks will be useful to you,” said Anna Maria Madsen.
“We are very pleased to provide this equipment at the city’s request, to support municipal enterprises and their work in Mykolaiv. This is further evidence of our close cooperation with the city, and I sincerely hope we will continue in the same spirit,” emphasized Viktor Jørgen Blikfeldt.
“Thank you very much! I hope these trucks will serve us for a long time and survive the war,” said Mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych, thanking international partners for their ongoing support for the city.
Before handing over these vehicles, Denmark had already provided Mykolaiv with excavators.
