He served in the SZCh and sold grenades twice: a serviceman in Mykolaiv region was sentenced to 7 years
In the Mykolaiv region, a serviceman was convicted for failing to report for duty and for selling ammunition
Ochakiv City District Court of Mykolaiv Region sentenced a serviceman to 7 years imprisonment who, after treatment, did not return to his place of service and later sold ammunition twice. The corresponding verdict dated 24 September 2026 was published in the Unified State Register of Court Decisions.
As established by the court, on 27 November 2024, after treatment at the war veterans’ hospital, the man did not return to his place of military service.
While in the status of unlawfully leaving the military unit, in March 2026 he disposed of ammunition for 4,000 hryvnias, among which were RG-4 and M-67 grenades. The serviceman did not stop there. In April 2026 he again sold for 4,000 hryvnias two F-1 grenade bodies and two UZRGM detonators.
In court the man fully admitted his guilt and confirmed the circumstances of the criminal offenses committed. The court found him guilty of failure to appear for military service under martial law, as well as illegal possession and sale of ammunition.
When determining the final punishment, the court took into account a previous sentence dated 22 July 2026, under which the man had already been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment. As a result, the final punishment for the serviceman amounted to 7 years imprisonment.
This is not the first case in Mykolaiv region where a case of unauthorized departure from service is linked to the illegal circulation of ammunition. In March 2026 a court in Mykolaiv imposed a preventive measure on a serviceman whom the investigation suspected of selling grenades for 4,000 hryvnias after unlawfully leaving the military unit.
The verdict was issued by the court under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — the storage and sale of ammunition without the legally required authorization.
