A soldier detonated a grenade during an altercation with passersby — four people were injured

Yesterday in the town of Sheptytskyi, Lviv Oblast a grenade exploded during a conflict with passersby. On Taras Shevchenko Avenue, 4 local residents suffered shrapnel wounds.

To the hospital were taken 3 women aged 17, 18 and 56, and a 26-year-old man. They received medical care; their lives are not in danger. The report listed 2 underage girls among the injured, although their ages are indicated as 17 and 18.

According to the Lviv Oblast police, the grenade was detonated by a 36-year-old resident of the Sheptytskyi district. The serviceman was on leave at the time. His whereabouts were established, after which the man was detained.

A criminal proceeding was opened on the grounds of hooliganism. Such a crime carries from 3 to 7 years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing; the court is expected to decide on a preventive measure for the detainee in the near future.
