September 3 in Germany, after a long illness, the Mykolaiv artist, painter and teacher Mykola Sopilnyak died. He was 74 years old.
The death of Mykola Mykhailovych Sopilnyak was reported by the Mykolaiv Union of Artists. They expressed condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.
Mykola Sopilnyak was born in 1952 and was an active participant in the artistic life of Mykolaiv. He worked in painting and devoted many years to teaching.
The artist graduated from the Faculty of Fine and Graphic Arts of the Odesa State Pedagogical Institute named after K. D. Ushynsky. He held the degree of Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences and worked as an associate professor in the Department of Design at the Mykolaiv branch of the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts.
In his work Mykola Sopilnyak used oil painting and watercolor techniques. His first solo exhibition took place in 2004. Afterwards the artist presented works at solo and anniversary exhibitions.
