Ruslan Kravchenko has resigned as Prosecutor General
He called this decision political and asked that it be adopted
Prosecutor General of Ukraine Ruslan Kravchenko submitted a resignation letter. He said this is a political decision he made consciously, and asked the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada to accept it.
I do not want the office of the Prosecutor General to be used as an instrument of political confrontation. My position regarding the accusations remains unchanged. I thank my colleagues who honestly do their work: presenting charges in courts, working with victims, documenting Russian crimes and defending the interests of the state. Your work must under no circumstances be devalued.
Kravchenko also expressed gratitude to the head of state and parliament for their trust. He emphasized that the work of prosecutors who present charges, help victims and document Russia’s crimes should not lose social value because of political confrontation.
The statement came amid a scandal after the publication of investigation materials by the NABU titled “Carthage”. Before this, Ruslan Kravchenko had stated that he did not plan to resign voluntarily.
