6 September in the history of the Korabelnyi District and Mykolaiv combined the modern commemoration of the ancient Vytovka, the birth of a well-known Mykolaiv actor, the launch of the city geoportal, and events of the Russian‑Ukrainian war. We separately remind about a date important for all Ukraine — the approval of the “Kharkiv” orthography.
6 September 1886: actor Oleksandr Zrazhevskyi was born in Mykolaiv
Oleksandr Zrazhevskyi was born in Mykolaiv on 25 August Old Style, that is 6 September New Style. He began his professional stage career in the theatres of Sevastopol, Kharkiv and Odesa, worked at the Maly Theatre in Moscow from 1935, and in 1949 received the title People’s Artist of the USSR. 6 September 2019: Korabelnyi marked the “620th anniversary of Vytovka”
Near the “Korabelnyi” Palace of Culture an event was held that the organizers called the 620th anniversary of Vytovka. The programme included a concert, a staged performance, knight tournaments, a book exhibition and Cossack entertainments. The fact that the event took place is confirmed by a Korabelov.info announcement and an editorial video recording from 6 September 2019.
6 September 2019: Mykolaiv presented the city geoportal
At the city council the results of implementing a geographic information system for the urban planning cadastre and an asset management system were presented. The portal combined the city’s geospatial data, topographic and thematic maps, documentation and information about land use; at the time of the presentation the system was operating in test mode. 6 September 2024: seven Shahed drones shot down over Mykolaiv region
On the night of 6 September air defence forces destroyed seven Shahed‑131/136 UAVs over Mykolaiv Oblast. Falling debris ignited dry grass in the Bashtanka district; the fire was promptly extinguished, and there were no casualties. Sources: Korabelov.info

6 September 1928: the “Kharkiv” orthography was approved
The People’s Commissar of Education of the Ukrainian SSR, Mykola Skrypnyk, approved the Ukrainian orthography developed in 1925–1928 and known as the “Kharkiv”, “Skrypnyk” or “Skrypnykivka” orthography. Thus, 6 September for the Korabelnyi District is primarily the day of the modern commemoration of Vytovka. For Mykolaiv the date is also associated with a theatrical biography and open city data, and for the whole country — with one of the main language reforms of the 20th century.
