Russian drones attacked a checkpoint in the Odesa region: one drone flew into Moldova
A drone flew toward Etulia and at 03:22 returned to Ukrainian airspace
At night on August 20 Russian forces, using drones, attacked a checkpoint on the border between Ukraine and Moldova in the Odesa region. During the strike one of the drones crossed into Moldovan airspace.
The attack was reported by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Information about the consequences of the strike on the checkpoint has not yet been specified.
The Ministry of Defense of Moldova said the drone entered the country’s airspace from the Ukrainian side and was heading toward the village of Etulia in Gagauzia. At 03:22 the drone left Moldovan territory and returned to Ukrainian airspace.
Moldova had previously recorded incidents with Russian drones. On August 9 near the settlement of Krokmaz in the Ștefan Vodă district the first case of a falling “drone-missile” that exploded on the country’s territory was recorded.
Additionally, during Russia’s nighttime attack on the Odesa region on July 13 one of the attack drones “Shahed” entered Moldovan airspace and exploded near the village of Copanca in the Căușeni district. This happened approximately 30 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
