In the Mykolaiv region, a man threw a grenade into the yard of acquaintances
The indictment was sent to the court for consideration
At the beginning of May in one of the settlements of the Myhiyivska community a man threw a grenade into the yard of his acquaintances and fled. As a result of the explosion, no one was injured.
During the inspection of the scene, law enforcement officers seized fragments of an explosive device, part of a detonator, and a safety ring. The seized items were sent for expert examination.
Using CCTV cameras and with the participation of specialists from the Criminal Analysis Department of the police headquarters, investigators within several hours established the man’s identity and determined his whereabouts. He turned out to be a 53-year-old resident of a neighboring village.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and was notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — hooliganism with the use of an explosive device. The man’s actions were also qualified under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosive substances.
After the completion of the pre-trial investigation and the conduct of the relevant examinations, investigators sent the indictment to the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office. The prosecutor’s office forwarded it to the court for substantive consideration.
The man faces up to 7 years of imprisonment.
According to Part 1 of Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime until their guilt is proven in accordance with the law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
