Shot from an air pistol to the eye: a 15-year-old girl was seriously injured in the Mykolaiv region
In Pervomaisk, the injured woman is in the hospital
August 9, on one of the beaches in Pervomaisk, a 15-year-old boy fired a pneumatic pistol several times and hit his 15-year-old acquaintance in the eye. The girl is in hospital; doctors assess her condition as serious.
The incident was reported to the police by the victim’s friend, who had been with her. Responding patrol police officers, an investigative-operational team, operatives, juvenile police officers and a forensic expert from the district police department arrived at the scene.
During initial investigative and operational-search measures, law enforcement established that the young man had brought the pneumatic pistol with him while they were at the beach. After several shots he hit the girl in the eye and then discarded the weapon.
Law enforcement officers searched for and seized the pneumatic pistol and sent it for examination.
The young man was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Under the procedural supervision of the juvenile prosecutor of the Pervomaisk District Prosecutor’s Office, investigators notified the detainee of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — intentional grievous bodily injury.
He faces up to 8 years of imprisonment for this. The court is expected to decide on a preventive measure for the suspect shortly.
Police are clarifying all the circumstances of the incident. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
