On the social network Threads circulated a post by a user signed as katya, who claimed the possible beating of her father by representatives of the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support in Mykolaiv. The publication is being widely reposted by other users, and the story has provoked a wave of outrage and calls for an official investigation.

According to the daughter, her father is a veteran of the Russia–Ukraine war since 2014, a holder of the Order of “For Courage” and one of the defenders of Donetsk Airport, who are called “cyborgs.” The editorial office was unable to find documentary confirmation of these details in open sources, so they are currently reported based on the family’s account. The woman claims that, despite a disability, her father voluntarily returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion in 2022. In April 2022 he allegedly suffered a severe wound in the Donetsk region and ended up in Russian captivity.

According to the family’s version, the Russians considered the seriously wounded serviceman practically doomed, so he was quickly included in a prisoner exchange. After returning to Ukraine, the man underwent about 3 months of treatment and rehabilitation, and then returned to his 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade. The daughter added that later her father fought again and suffered another wound near Maryinka. Due to his poor health, a military-medical commission allegedly declared him unfit for service and removed him from the military register. The man is currently continuing treatment and undergoing medical commissions.

The incident, according to the family, happened on the morning of 23 July 2026, when the veteran was on his way to the hospital. He was stopped by people whom the author of the post calls representatives of the TCR, and they asked him to present his military registration documents.

The man allegedly replied that he has veteran status, has been discharged from service, and the relevant information should be contained in the electronic database. According to the daughter, one of the members of the group said that he did not know how to use the program for checking the data.

The family emphasizes that the veteran did not refuse to show his documents and began to take them out. However, according to the daughter, the man was allegedly beaten before he had time to present his ID.

The author of the post claims that the blows were delivered with hands and feet, in particular to the chest area and the groin. She drew special attention to the fact that fragments from combat wounds remain in her father’s lungs, which, according to doctors, cannot be removed.

“This morning, on the way to the hospital, the TCR stopped me, I did not resist and did not refuse to present documents, but!!!! I barely had time :( because the monster, the one who hides her face in the video, after my words that I am exempt from such mobilization, dealt me several blows with her feet and hands, I turned the camera on after the beating, but “it” did not calm down and as can be seen in the video continued the physical violence,” the man said in the post.

In his appeal, the veteran also described his combat path, wounds, captivity, return to service and subsequent discharge for health reasons. He stated that after what he experienced he no longer felt safe meeting people in Ukrainian military uniform. At the end of the post the man emotionally spoke about possible self-defense and said that he plans to carry a knife with him. The editorial office emphasizes that violence or threats of its use cannot be a way to resolve conflicts, and law enforcement agencies should give a legal assessment of the actions of all participants.

At the time of preparing the material, the editorial office was unable to find a public statement from the police, the State Bureau of Investigation or the Mykolaiv Regional TCR and SS specifically regarding this incident. Therefore, information about the involvement of TCR representatives, the circumstances of the stop and the nature of the injuries inflicted on the man is currently based on the statements of the veteran and his daughter and requires independent verification.

At the same time, cases of possible abuse of power during mobilization activities in Mykolaiv have already become the subject of criminal proceedings. In particular, in January 2026 the SBI reported suspicions against an officer of the TCR and SS for intentionally causing bodily harm to those liable for military service.
