"Geran-4" equipped with a camera struck an ATB: a 9-year-old girl was killed

On the afternoon of July 26, 2026, Russian occupying forces carried out a strike with a Geran-4 kamikaze drone “Geran-4” on the ATB supermarket in the ZAZ neighborhood of Chernihiv. According to preliminary conclusions of the explosives service of the National Police, the drone was equipped with a video camera, so the enemy could see the civilian facility and people in the area of the intended impact.

Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv Oblast Volodymyr Tymoshko said to Suspilne that the presence of a camera indicates the deliberate nature of the attack. According to law enforcement, Russian forces struck the supermarket attempting to cause as many civilian casualties as possible.

The strike killed 2 people — an adult woman and a 9-year-old girl. Among the wounded is a 10-year-old boy. In initial reports from the city military administration the age of the deceased child was given as 10 years, however the head of the Chernihiv OVA Vyacheslav Chaus later clarified that the girl was 9 years old.

The number of those injured continued to rise through the evening. Initially it was reported as 13 people — 4 men and 9 women, three of whom required hospitalization. As of 19:00 July 26, 25 people had already sought medical assistance after the Russian strike.

Overall, Russian drones struck 3 locations in Chernihiv. In addition to the supermarket, a service station, a warehouse, a garage and vehicles were damaged. According to local authorities, at least 15 vehicles were damaged and fires broke out at the impact sites.

In memory of the dead, Monday, July 27, 2026, in Chernihiv was declared a Day of Mourning. The city is to lower state flags, cancel entertainment events and limit the broadcasting of entertainment music.
