In Mykolaiv Oblast, a Mercedes-Benz van collided with a freight train: the driver was killed
A traffic accident occurred near Mykolaivka in the Veselynivka community
23 July on a local road near the village of Mykolaivka in the Veselynivska community of Voznesensk district a road traffic accident occurred involving a light commercial van Mercedes-Benz and a freight train. The driver of the vehicle was killed.
The accident occurred at about 14:40 at an uncontrolled railway crossing.
According to preliminary information from the Mykolaiv region police, the van driver was crossing the tracks despite the traffic light’s prohibiting audible and visual signals and collided with a moving train.
The 61-year-old driver died from his injuries in the ambulance.
Investigators from the investigative department of the regional police headquarters, forensic specialists and officers of the patrol police response sector are working at the scene. The latter are directing road traffic.
The circumstances of the road traffic accident are being established by law enforcement. The incident was provisionally classified under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or operation of transport that caused the death of the victim.
