An out-of-control Hyundai continued down the road after the collision: an 84-year-old man was killed in Mykolaiv region
One passenger car, two trucks and a tragic ending on the H-24 highway
On highway N-24 “Blahovishchenske – Mykolaiv” near the village of Lukashivka of the Syniukhobrid community in the Pervomaiskyi district, a fatal road traffic accident occurred involving a passenger car and two trucks. This was reported by the Mykolaiv police.
The accident happened on 27 May 2026, at approximately 15:00. According to preliminary information from law enforcement, a 69-year-old driver of a Hyundai Accent lost control and collided with an Iveco 75 E truck driven by a 21-year-old driver. After the impact the Iveco truck went into a ditch. At the same time the Hyundai became uncontrollable and collided with another truck — a MAN TGX, behind the wheel of which was a 37-year-old driver. After the second collision the MAN went onto the shoulder and overturned. As a result of the accident an 84-year-old passenger of the Hyundai Accent suffered injuries incompatible with life and died at the scene. The driver of the MAN sustained bodily injuries. The Iveco driver, according to the police, was not injured.
Investigators have preliminarily qualified the incident under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles that caused the death of a victim. The sanction of this article provides for up to eight years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the fatal accident. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
