In Kyiv a 54-year-old man will be tried, who is accused of murdering his 45-year-old wife during a family conflict. This was reported by the Kyiv police on May 16, 2026.

The tragedy occurred in early January 2026 in an apartment in the Shevchenkivskyi district of the capital. The police received a report of a woman’s murder at that time. Investigative-operational teams from the district and main police departments, as well as a forensic expert, worked at the scene. In the apartment, law enforcement officers found the body of a 45-year-old woman with signs of strangulation. During the investigation, police established that her 54-year-old husband was involved in the murder. According to the investigation, the couple had been married for about half a year. After moving from Odesa to Kyiv, they constantly quarreled over jealousy and household disagreements. During another conflict, the man pushed his wife onto the bed and strangled her with his hands. After that, law enforcement officers detained him in accordance with Art.208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Investigators of the Shevchenkivskyi police department, under the procedural guidance of the Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the man of suspicion under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – intentional murder. The pre-trial investigation has now been completed, and the indictment has been sent to court. The accused faces up to 15 years in prison.
