Mykolaiv native Oleksandr Rudynskyi will appear in Netflix's adaptation of the cult classic Gundam alongside Sweeney and Isaacs

Actor from Mykolaiv Oleksandr Rudynskyi has joined the international cast of Netflix’s major live-action adaptation “Gundam”; the project also features Sydney Sweeney and Jason Isaacs, and is directed by Jim Mickle.
As Netflix reports, the plot of the upcoming film focuses on pilots of combat mechs who find themselves on opposite sides of a prolonged confrontation between Earth and space colonies. The film is being made by Jim Mickle, known for his genre projects and series.
Among Rudynskyi’s announced co-stars on set are Sydney Sweeney, one of the most prominent stars of Hollywood’s new generation, and Jason Isaacs, a recipient of numerous film awards and a performer of distinctive roles in major franchises.
“Gundam” is one of the most influential anime franchises in global pop culture: over decades it has grown into a vast universe with numerous series, feature films, video games and manga, shaping the aesthetics and ideas of the entire mecha genre.
Oleksandr Rudynskyi is a Ukrainian theatre and film actor, born in Mykolaiv. After school he moved to Kyiv, where he studied at the Kyiv National I. K. Karpenko-Karyi University of Theatre, Film and Television, building a career at the intersection of auteur and genre cinema.
He is known to audiences for roles in the films “Rock, Paper, Scissors” (the work was awarded a BAFTA for Best Short Film), Oleg Sentsov’s “Rhino”, as well as the hit series “First Swallows”. His credits also include international projects for Netflix and Paramount+.
Since the start of the full-scale war, Rudynskyi has joined film projects that reflect Ukraine’s current realities, combining his acting career with participation in socially important films.
