"Intercity+" collided with a diesel locomotive: fortunately, there were no casualties
The train to Europe has "veered slightly off course": a collision occurred in Vinnytsia region
As reported by the press service of “Ukrzaliznytsia” April 18 2026, at the Brailiv station in the Vinnytsia region a side collision occurred between a diesel locomotive of a private quarry and the passenger train “Intercity+” on the Kyiv — Przemyśl service.
At the time of the accident there were 576 passengers on the train and on the locomotive, as well as railway staff. According to official information, none of them were injured. All passengers were temporarily accommodated at the station, where a replacement train is already on its way.
In “Ukrzaliznytsia” they noted that they are collecting information about further passenger transfers and are coordinating actions with the border service, so that customs and border procedures are completed as quickly as possible and without unnecessary delays. Negotiations are also underway with other rail operators to preserve route connections for passengers. The company emphasized that the incident will be thoroughly investigated, and a special team has already been dispatched to the scene to clarify all the circumstances of the accident.
