Child at the Wheel and a Child Under the Wheels: in Mykolaiv Oblast Investigators Are Probing a Traffic Accident with an Injured Person
He was crossing at the "zebra", but it didn't save him: the boy was hit by a young motorcyclist
In the settlement of Kazanka in the Bashtanskyi District on the morning of April 9, 2026, a road traffic accident occurred involving a minor motorcycle rider and a young child pedestrian.
According to the police of Mykolaiv region, at about 08:20 on Myru Street a Musstang XTREET motorcycle, which was being driven by a 15-year-old teenager, struck a 9-year-old boy. At that moment the child was crossing the carriageway at an uncontrolled pedestrian crossing.
After the collision the motorcyclist left the scene but later returned. As a result of the accident the boy was taken to a medical facility with bodily injuries. According to doctors, his condition is of moderate severity. The motorcycle rider was not injured.
Investigators have opened a criminal case in connection with this incident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of traffic safety rules or vehicle operation by persons operating vehicles.
The article’s sanction provides for punishment of up to three years of restriction of liberty with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
At present law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the accident. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
