In the ring — sport, in life — a scheme: a boxing official "organized" trips for "draft dodgers."

As reported on April 7, 2026 in the Office of the Prosecutor General, under the procedural leadership of the Kyiv City Prosecutor’s Office, suspicion was declared against four members of an organized group who set up a scheme for the illegal departure of conscripts abroad.

According to the investigation, the organizer was a native of Luhansk region – the head of the regional boxing federation, who attracted three more accomplices. The scheme operated simultaneously in several cities: Mykolaiv, Odessa, Kyiv and Ternopil.

The participants fictitiously employed “clients” at a controlled enterprise in Kyiv, which had the status of a critical infrastructure facility. This made it possible to issue a “booking” or a business trip, which actually gave a reprieve from mobilization and the opportunity to legally cross the border. There was also a more risky scheme — illegal reshipment to Moldova, bypassing official checkpoints.

The cost of such “services” varied:

up to 8 thousand dollars — for fictitious employment with a reservation
up to 10 thousand dollars — for business trip registration
up to 15 thousand dollars — for illegal border crossing

In addition, clients were charged 10 thousand UAH of so-called “taxes” every month. According to preliminary data, at least 40 people used the scheme. During the searches, law enforcement officers seized more than 5 million UAH, mobile phones, computer equipment, documentation and draft records. The suspects are charged with illegal border crossing and obstructing the lawful activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for two suspects with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 2.6 million UAH, two more are in custody without an alternative to bail.
