⚖️ Mass mobilization breakdown: Thousands of people should not have been required to serve, but are already in units, the ombudsman says
According to Olha Reshetylova, this is a sign of a systemic problem, and the inspection covers TCK, VLK and possible higher-level solutions
In one of Ukraine’s military units, possible violations of mobilization procedures were recorded during an internal inspection: about 2 thousand people with potential medical contraindications to service arrived at the unit. This was reported by military ombudswoman Olga Reshetilova in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
According to the ombudswoman, an inspection is ongoing in the unit due to the mass enrollment of mobilized people with possible health-related restrictions. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the Ground Forces command have been involved to determine at what stage the failure in selection and decision-making occurred.
She clarified that it is necessary to determine where exactly the mistake occurred — at the level of territorial recruitment centers, military medical commissions, directly in the military unit, or whether decisions were made at higher levels.
It is necessary to thoroughly determine where exactly the problem arose – at the level of TRCs, military medical commissions, or already in the unit, or the decision was made at a higher level
Olga Reshetilova also emphasized that the described case is not an isolated episode and indicates the existence of a broader problem that requires thorough study and elimination of the causes.
It is important to understand how it was possible, in principle, to involve such a number of people in service who may be unfit
This refers to the interview in which the ombudswoman informed about the scale of the violations and the steps being taken to investigate the incident — in particular coordination with the relevant structures of the defense ministry and the Ground Forces command.
