Water Is No Longer an Obstacle: FPV Drones on Fiber-Optic Cable Find Their Way to Mykolaiv Region - Vitaliy Kim
Drones "learned to swim": not even the estuary saves them anymore
In the Mykolaiv region a new dangerous trend is being recorded — Russian FPV drones on fiber-optic cables are already capable of covering significant distances and reaching targets even across bodies of water. This was reported by the head of the regional military administration, Vitaliy Kim, on the air of “Novyny.Live”.
According to him, modern enemy drones can fly up to 27 kilometers, which allows them to cross the Dnipro-Buh estuary. Although the operation of such devices over the water surface remains unstable, a similar case has already been recorded during calm weather conditions.
In connection with the new threats, an updated approach to the defense of populated areas is already being implemented in the region. It concerns the creation of a system of all-around defense for cities by order of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Special attention is being paid to coastal communities, in particular Ochakiv and the Kutsurub community, where the use of additional means to suppress and counter enemy drones is planned.
Despite the worsening situation, one of the key indicators of defense effectiveness remains the absence of casualties among the civilian population. It is precisely to this, according to regional leadership, that all current security measures are directed.
