April 1 2026, the Central District Court of Mykolaiv considered a motion to impose a preventive measure on a 41-year-old resident of Voznesensk, who is suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 2 of Article 199 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is known that the man has previously been held criminally liable.

According to the investigation materials, the suspect purchased counterfeit currency totaling 11 020 euros and stored it for the purpose of further sale. To carry out the scheme he involved an accomplice, materials concerning whom have been separated into a separate criminal proceeding.

At first the defendant handed counterfeit banknotes totaling 1000 euros to a middleman. He sold them to an unknown man on the territory of a market in Voznesensk for 500 US dollars, which was significantly below exchange office rates. Later the scheme continued: the suspect handed over another 10 020 euros, which the same middleman sold to the same buyer for 7000 US dollars.

During the court hearing the prosecutor insisted on applying preventive detention. The suspect himself refused to give explanations.

As a result of the hearing the investigating judge decided to impose preventive detention with the possibility of bail in the amount of 998 400 hryvnias.
