Scandal involving TCK in Odesa: a woman with an infant was hospitalized after busification

In Odesa on the evening of 25 March 2026 a high-profile incident occurred during the detention of a man by people in military uniform. According to the family, the event took place near the home of local resident Sona Khilobok.

The woman claims that unknown individuals in military uniform without identification marks attacked her husband from behind, used a gas/pepper spray canister and forcibly dragged him into a minibus. Hearing the screams, relatives ran to the scene, and the woman herself — together with her one-year-old child.

According to her, when she tried to pull her husband out of the vehicle, one of the men in uniform pushed her in the back, after which she and the child ended up inside the van, the doors closed and the vehicle drove off.

The woman said that she and the child were driven around the neighborhood for about 30 minutes, after which they were let out near the house. According to medical documents, she sustained bruises to the head, face and legs, and the child — soft tissue bruising and a traumatic brain injury. Doctors diagnosed a concussion; the infant was hospitalized and is under the care of neurosurgeons.

The victim’s mother Olga Pedyazh described the circumstances of the incident when she tried to stop the vehicle.

“They pushed me with the car, I grabbed onto the hood, and they drove me like that across the yard. Then they got out, they restrained me, threw me into the bushes and drove away”.

At the Odesa Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center stated that they learned about the situation from social networks and the media and have already initiated an internal investigation:

“The leadership of the Odesa Regional Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Center has promptly initiated an internal investigation into this incident. At present, we are closely cooperating with law enforcement agencies to objectively establish all the circumstances of the event.

We are saddened to hear about such allegations. We express our regret over the stressful situation in which the mother and child have found themselves. At the same time, we ask the public to wait for the official results of the investigation and the conclusions of the competent authorities.

The leadership’s position is principled: if the involvement and guilt of servicemen are proven, they will be brought to account with the full severity of the law. No manifestations of violations of military discipline and ethics will go without an appropriate response”, — the statement reads.
