In the Mykolaiv region, 2,831 cases of influenza and acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) were recorded over the week: 77 hospitalized, mostly children

No deaths have been recorded; respiratory pathogens were detected in 182 of 798 samples, including 29 positive tests for COVID-19, while only 544 people have been vaccinated since the start of the season

According to the Mykolaiv Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, in the Mykolaiv region during the week from 6 to 12 April a decline in influenza and ARI morbidity, including COVID-19, was recorded: 2831 cases were registered, which is fewer compared with the week before last.

Monitoring showed a decrease in morbidity in all age groups. Among children 1931 cases were confirmed compared to 1952 previously, among adults — 900 versus 1010.

A total of 77 patients were admitted to hospitals, mostly children under 14 years old. No deaths were registered during the reporting period.

Since the beginning of the epidemic season, 544 people have been vaccinated against influenza: including 185 healthcare workers, 74 children under 5 years old, 49 members of risk groups and 235 other citizens.

Diagnostic test results indicate the circulation of various respiratory viruses: out of 798 tested, pathogens were detected in 182 samples.

Among them, in 64 cases an unsubtyped influenza A virus was isolated, in 15 — influenza A (H3), in 1 — parainfluenza, in 32 — adenoviruses, in 11 — RS viruses (RSV), in 20 — rhinoviruses, in 8 — metapneumoviruses.

Also, the causative agent of COVID-19 was identified in 29 patients, indicating ongoing epidemic activity in the region.

It is additionally specified that in medical facilities in the city of Mykolaiv, rapid tests confirmed the diagnosis “influenza A” in 2 patients.
