Very often the triggering mechanism for such a shameful phenomenon as domestic violence is alcohol. Many such incidents occur in the Korablevnyi District of the city of Mykolaiv, and they often become the subject of court proceedings. The editorial office of Korabelov.info, having examined numerous decisions of the Korablevnyi District Court, currently cites only two examples, rulings on which were issued by the court already in 2026 (January 9 and April 7). These cases are shocking in their cruelty toward elderly people.

One of the incidents took place on December 7, 2025 at 21:25. A typical domestic drama unfolded in the residence. The officially unemployed Andriy Turakevych, having had too much to drink, subjected his stepfather – Serhii R. – to psychological terror. The evening quarrel quickly escalated into physical aggression: the young man, while intoxicated, did not limit himself to filthy insults and struck the elderly man on the head with his palm.

The police who arrived at the call not only drew up a report but also issued the aggressor an urgent restraining order in order to protect the victim from further attacks.

Judge Tetyana Holovyna considered the case on January 9, 2026. The offender himself did not attend the hearing, although he received an invitation via SMS. However, his presence was not mandatory, as the police provided comprehensive evidence:

  • the victim’s statement and explanations;
  • the results of the risk assessment;
  • video from the officers’ body-worn camera showing the perpetrator’s condition and behavior.

The court found the man guilty of committing domestic violence (part 1 of Art. 173-2 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses).

The financial result for the offender:

  • Fine to the state: 340 UAH,
  • Court fee: 665.60 UAH.

Thus, for a single slap and insults the man will have to pay more than 1,000 hryvnias in total.

Another case occurred on March 6, 2026 at 21:30. Oleh Skripin, while intoxicated at his place of residence, committed psychological and physical domestic violence against his 86-year-old mother Halyna, namely pushing her and using obscene language.

The police officers who arrived at the call and conducted a risk assessment determined the level of danger as high. In addition, from the content of the video attached to the protocol and reviewed by the court, it is apparent that at the time of the police’s arrival at about 23:00 the victim, born in 1940, was on the street without outer clothing, while the house was locked from the inside by her son, who did not let her into the house, which supports the victim’s explanations about the offender’s unlawful actions toward her.

Oleh Skripin did not appear at the court hearing, although he was duly notified (by sending and receiving SMS messages to the phone number he provided when the report was drawn up); the court was not informed of the reasons for his absence.

The victim also did not come to court and did not inform of the reasons for her absence. Since no requests from her to postpone the hearing were received, the court considered the case without the parties being present.

The punishment for Skripin this time was:

  • Fine to the state: 680 UAH,
  • Court fee: 665.60 UAH,
  • Referral to undergo a correctional program for persons who committed domestic violence for a period of three months.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Oleh Skripin has received such measures. He has a “rich” history of administrative penalties for domestic violence against his mother, but, as we see, he has learned nothing.

We remind you that we wrote about him last year:
Abused his mother for months:
the police barely calmed the aggressor in the Korablevnyi District
