Prices in March crept up along with inflation in Ukraine — State Statistics Service

Eggs, fuel, and clothing saw the largest price increases

According to the State Statistics Service (Derzhstat), in March 2026 consumer market inflation compared with February was 1.7%, and on an annual basis — 7.9%. At the same time, core inflation (excluding seasonal factors) rose by 1.5% for the month and by 7.1% for the year.

In the food market, prices for food products and non-alcoholic beverages on average increased by 1.3%. The largest jump was recorded for eggs — by as much as 7.7%. Processed grain products, sunflower oil, fruit, bread, fish, beef, vegetables, non-alcoholic beverages and salo also became more expensive — within the range of 0.8% to 4.8%.

At the same time, some products showed a slight price decrease. Prices for sugar, pasta, rice, pork, poultry meat and butter fell within the range of 0.1% to 1%.

Alcoholic beverages and tobacco products became more expensive by 1.1%, which is primarily due to an increase in the cost of tobacco products by 1.3%.

The most noticeable price increase was recorded in the clothing and footwear segment — prices jumped by 12%. In particular, clothing rose by 12%, and footwear by 11.8%.

Transport costs also rose significantly — by 6.4%. The main reasons were the increase in the price of fuel and lubricants by 13.2%, as well as higher fares for rail transport by 8.2% and for road transport by 6%. In the communications sector, prices rose by 2.5%, mainly due to an increase in mobile communication tariffs by 3.8%.
