An employee of the TCC declared 1.12 kg of gold valued at 7.7 million
Claims that the volume has not changed since 2018, while the amount increased because the price of gold rose by almost 2.7 times during the war
Service member of the Bucha District TCC and SP Oleh Kolomiiets during a meeting of the temporary investigative commission of the Verkhovna Rada stated that the gold he declared weighing 1,12 kg of 999,9 fineness was legally purchased with his own funds.
Focus. According to the service member, the incomes used to buy the precious metals were accumulated long before he began serving in the TCC. His explanations were given at hearings of the commission investigating violations in the defense sector and the observance of human rights during martial law.
Kolomiiets added that after publications about his declaration, where the value of the precious metals was estimated at 7,7 million UAH, he and his family became the target of widespread public criticism.
The service member emphasized that the declared assets are not related to his current service: the funds for their purchase were accumulated by him and family members in the period from 1993 to 2021. Before the full-scale war he had no relation to state structures, and the savings, he said, were the result of salaries and investments.
According to Kolomiiets, he bought the gold gradually — from 2011 to June 2018, and has bank receipts confirming each of these transactions.
He also noted that since 2018 the amount of declared gold and the number of jewelry items have not changed. He explained the increase in the value of these assets by the rise in global quotations for the precious metal — during the war gold became almost 2,7 times more expensive, so only its monetary valuation changed according to the NBU exchange rate.
After a wave of media publications Kolomiiets appealed to the NACP asking them to conduct a check of his declarations. He stated his readiness to provide anti-corruption agencies with all necessary documents and explanations and emphasized that he had no involvement in corruption schemes.
