On Sunday, April 5 2026, in Mykolaiv another weekly reminder action took place about Ukrainian servicemen who are held in Russian captivity or are missing. Relatives and close ones of the defenders, as well as concerned residents of the city, joined it. People came out with brigade flags, photos of servicemen and posters to prevent the issue of captivity from disappearing from public attention.

Among the slogans participants held were the words “Scream now, because later it will be too late”, “Don’t be silent, captivity kills” and “Dad, I’m waiting”. Such short, painful phrases today most accurately convey the state of families who for months and years live in anticipation of any news about their loved ones.

“OUR people are still in enemy captivity. There are no weekends, holidays or ordinary everyday things there. Only torture and pain”, –  said Mayor Oleksandr Senkevych, commenting on the weekly action in support of prisoners of war in Mykolaiv.

The same day a similar event was held in Pervomaisk, where about 200 people took part in a march honoring the captured and missing servicemen. This once again shows that for the Mykolaiv region the issue of returning the defenders remains alive, painful and weekly.
