Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on Facebook April 5 that on the Oleksandrivka direction Ukrainian forces liberated 12 settlements as part of an ongoing operation.

According to him, the offensive actions of the Defense Forces have continued since the end of January. During this period units have restored control over about 480 sq. km of territory: of them 8 settlements are located in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, and a further 4 in Zaporizhzhia Oblast.

During a working visit Syrskyi received a briefing from Major General Oleh Apostol. They also discussed steps to increase the effectiveness of the offensive and measures to counter enemy attacks.

He noted that Russian forces have not abandoned assault operations in this sector, operating near several settlements. Over the past week 64 attacks have been recorded.

According to the commander-in-chief, the enemy is attempting to create a so-called “buffer zone” in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, however Ukrainian units are holding an active defense, conducting precision strikes and destroying enemy personnel and equipment.

Additionally, Syrskyi visited the Pokrovsk direction, where he familiarized himself with the situation in the Air Assault Forces units and received a briefing from Brigadier General Yevhen Lasiichuk.

Following the inspection, he ordered units to be reinforced with additional ammunition and material-technical resources, and also thanked the service members for their service.
