Another child death on the railway: a boy was found under a commuter train
Teenagers are climbing onto train cars again, and the outcome is the same — death or maiming
April 1 2026, Kyiv police reported a fatal incident on the railway in the Sviatoshynskyi district. According to preliminary information, a young boy was between the cars of a suburban electric train while it was moving, lost his footing, fell onto the track and was struck by a train. He died from his injuries. Two other minors were on the roofs of the cars with him. They were not injured in the incident. A district police investigative and operational team and juvenile police are working at the scene to establish all the circumstances of the tragedy.
This is not the first similar case recently. Only on March 29, 2026, in the Solomianskyi district of Kyiv three teenagers climbed onto the roof of a train: one died, two suffered multiple burns. Earlier, on March 18, 2026 in the Kyiv region a 13-year-old boy climbed onto the roof of an electric train on the Teteriv — Sviatoshyno route, was electrocuted and was hospitalized with burns, a head injury and a fracture.
In fact, these are no longer isolated episodes but a series of dangerous incidents in which teenagers treat the railway as a place for “extreme” experiences or social media content. But any movement on train cars, being on the roof or between the cars of electric trains means a direct risk of a fatal fall or high-voltage electric shock. This conclusion directly follows from the nature of the recent events on the railway.
The police separately appealed to teenagers and anyone seeking dangerous thrills: such actions can cost you your health and your life. Law enforcement urges people not to expose themselves to mortal danger.
