March 30, 2026, the investigating judge of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv Volodymyr Liashchenko considered a motion to impose a preventive measure on a 39-year-old serviceman, who unlawfully left his military unit and is suspected under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal handling of ammunition.

According to the investigation materials, the man allegedly found or purchased two hand grenade bodies together with fuzes, after which he sold them to a person who was acting under the control of law enforcement. The amount of the deal was 4,000 hryvnias. During the court hearing the suspect did not plead guilty. He explained that he found the munitions in the trash, did not sell them, and that the money received was allegedly a loan. According to him, another person took the grenades for further disposal. The suspect himself and his defender objected to choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention. However, after examining the case materials and hearing the parties, the court decided to detain the man.

At the same time, the court set an alternative — the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 99,840 hryvnias.
