A serviceman at a military recruitment center was slashed: attackers may face life imprisonment
Instead of an administrative protocol — a criminal case that could carry a life sentence: what the attack on soldiers resulted in
March 28 2026 in the Khadzhybeyskyi district of the city of Odesa on Mykola Borovskyi Street an armed attack occurred on servicemen while they were performing their official duties. The incident was reported by the Odesa Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
According to official information, a joint notification group stopped a citizen to check military registration documents in accordance with the requirements of Cabinet of Ministers resolution No.560 dated 16.05.2024. During the check it was revealed that the man was wanted for violating military registration rules. While attempting to escort the offender to the TCC, a group of civilians attacked the military. According to the agency, the attack involved the use of special devices and cold weapons. As a result of the attack, one of the servicemen sustained a severe stab wound. He was promptly hospitalized, and medics are currently providing the necessary care.
Law enforcement agencies have already obtained footage from body cameras and have launched an investigation. Preliminary, the attackers’ actions are being qualified under Art. 114-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obstruction of the activities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine) and Art. 348 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (attempt on the life of a servicemember). The penalties under these articles provide for punishment up to life imprisonment.
