Mykolaiv region is dying out: deaths already outnumber births

In the Mykolaiv region in 2025 an excess of deaths over births was recorded: according to the Mykolaiv Regional Department of Health, 4091 children were born (from 4046 deliveries), while 4290 people died. This was reported at a briefing by the head of the Health Department of the Mykolaiv Regional Military Administration, Iryna Tkachenko.

The published figures indicate a persistent imbalance between natural increase and mortality in the region, demonstrating worsening demographic trends.

In her remarks, Iryna Tkachenko emphasized the consequences of these indicators for the region.

The department clarified that the count of deliveries is kept separately — 4046, while the number of registered newborns is 4091. At the same time, the region recorded 4290 deaths for the same period, resulting in a negative natural population balance in 2025.
