"Knows Ukrainian better than some city council officials," Senkevych held up the Dane as an example to his subordinates

At the ceremonial opening of the social adaptation space, which took place on 27 March 2026 in the Korabelnyi District of Mykolaiv, the mayor Oleksandr Senkevych held up as an example to Mykolaiv residents the head of the Office of the Embassy of Denmark in Mykolaiv Jakob Torrild Hansen, who speaks Ukrainian quite well.

“It’s just that when I hear someone say they cannot speak Ukrainian because their jaw or tongue is somehow not positioned right, having lived their whole life in Ukraine, – here’s an example for you. If there is a desire, a person from another country can learn the Ukrainian language and communicate better than some officials of the Mykolaiv City Council,” – says the mayor of Mykolaiv.
