A dog of a dangerous breed attacked a 13-year-old girl: the child's leg was amputated

In Dnipro on March 27 law enforcement officers notified the dog’s owner of suspicion after the dog, on March 4 in one of the villages of the Dnipro district, attacked a 13-year-old girl; due to the injuries the child’s leg was amputated. The information was released by the press service of the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to investigators, the incident occurred when the schoolgirl was returning home after classes. After the attack the girl was urgently taken to hospital, where doctors found the injuries to be so severe that it was impossible to save the limb.
The investigation established that the owner was obliged to ensure proper conditions for keeping the animal, as the dog belongs to breeds for which heightened safety and control requirements apply.
Investigators also recorded that this dog had repeatedly run out beyond the yard before, creating a potential danger to passersby.
