On Friday, March 27, a McDonald’s opened on Soborna Street in Mykolaiv: dozens of townspeople came on the first day of operation, and the event was also attended by city and regional officials.

Information about the restaurant’s launch spread on social networks throughout the morning — users shared signs of preparation specifically for today’s opening.

Around 11 a.m. it became known that the establishment was visited by the head of Mykolaiv Oblast Vitaliy Kim and the mayor Oleksandr Sienkevych.

In one of the published videos you can see people running into the hall at the moment the doors open.

The reasons for the delayed start and the readiness of the infrastructure were explained by Yuliya Badritdinova, CEO of McDonald’s in Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

“The restaurant in Mykolaiv was supposed to open much earlier — shortly after the restaurants in Odesa resumed operations in 2023. But after the destruction of the Kakhovka HPP the city faced a difficult situation with water supply, and we could not resume operations until conditions met our safety and quality standards. After the construction of the new water pipeline and stable results from all water quality checks, we can finally operate again in Mykolaiv. For us, this is not just the opening of a restaurant — it is the return of business, jobs and a sense of normality for the city.”

The restaurant dining area is open daily from 7:00 to 23:00, and the McDrive operates from 5:00 to 23:30. The “Mobile Order” service is available — you can place and pay for meals in the McDonald’s app and pick them up at the restaurant. In case of a power outage the establishment is equipped with a generator.

The opening creates over 100 jobs. The company offers official employment from age 16, stable pay, flexible schedules and training and development opportunities regardless of candidates’ age and experience.

For the first two weeks the establishment will operate with a limited menu, without breakfasts. Delivery service is planned to be connected in about two weeks. Security issues remain a priority: during an air raid alert operations are temporarily suspended, visitors are asked to go to shelters, and employees retain full pay.

The Mykolaiv restaurant became the 125th operating McDonald’s in Ukraine as of today.
