"They're breaking generators and cutting cables," the director of "Mykolaivoblteploenergo" said, reporting aggression by residents
Generators are needed for the operation of individual heating units; however, conflicts and equipment damage arise during their installation
During a press conference on March 25, 2026, the director of OKP “Mykolaivoblteploenergo”, Mykola Logvinov, reported instances of aggressive behavior by residents during the installation of generators needed to power individual heating units in buildings.
The head explained that some city residents do not realize the importance of these power sources for the uninterrupted operation of ITPs, on which the supply of heat to homes depends. According to him, sometimes the equipment has to be placed next to entrances, which becomes a cause of conflicts. Logvinov described situations when, during the start-up and operation of the units, people interfered with the staff — in particular, they turned off and damaged equipment, cut cables, and called the police. He noted that the installed units are compact and operate relatively quietly:
“Unfortunately, people do not understand that sometimes a generator is needed for ITPs to work. And we faced people’s aggression, we faced the problem that we installed generators, started them, they are small, 3–5 kW, they do not operate so loudly, but people turned them off, broke them, cut cables, and called the police on us”, – shared the enterprise director.
He said there were cases when residents openly stated that they are not interested in the stable operation of the heat point, despite the risks to other residents of the building.
“There were even cases when they called the police and we say: you will be cold, and in response: I don’t care, I’m fine, I’m warm. And what about other people?”, – the head of the enterprise said.
The official added that the community must decide on priorities: either ensuring heat in homes, or giving up the temporary noise from generators.
“We heard a lot of aggression because the generator works near the entrance. We need to decide: either we want heat in the building, or the noise bothers us”, – the official clarified.
