Fake "love" to escape: a 44-year-old man and his 80-year-old beloved mother-in-law were exposed at the border

State Border Guard Service of Ukraine March 20 2026 reported the detection of another attempt to illegally leave the country under the cover of “family circumstances”. At the checkpoint “Mohyliv-Podilskyi” for exit from Ukraine arrived a 44-year-old man and his 80-year-old “wife” with a disability. Both, according to the border guards, are residents of Kyiv.

At first the couple tried to convince the inspectors that they were in a genuine relationship, and that the large age difference supposedly did not matter. But during the conversation this version began to fall apart: “the spouses” became confused in their answers and could not coherently explain the basic details of their life together.

Later it turned out that the woman is actually the mother of the man’s common-law wife, who is currently abroad. In other words, the story about “love without age limits” turned out to be a tale that, according to the border guards, was used in an attempt to illegally leave the country.

The agency reported that both were denied passage across the state border. In addition, a notification about the detection of signs of a criminal offense has already been sent to the National Police.
