Fire in a nine-story apartment building in Mykolaiv: one person killed
The fire broke out during the day on March 16 in an apartment in the Korabelnyi district of the city
On Monday, March 16, during the day a fire broke out in an apartment of a nine-story residential building in the Korabelnyi district of Mykolaiv; rescuers carried out two men, and one of them died.
The incident was reported by the regional Main Department of the State Emergency Service. Units arrived at the scene promptly and began extinguishing the fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters established that the fire started in an apartment on the sixth floor. The premises were heavily filled with smoke.
During the firefighting operation, rescuers carried two men out. One of them, born in 1961, was unconscious; despite medical personnel’s attempts at resuscitation, he could not be saved — the man died.
The second victim, born in 1978, refused hospitalization. Separately, firefighters evacuated two more residents from the upper floors; they did not require medical assistance.
The flames, which engulfed household items and furniture, were extinguished over an area of 17 square meters. The causes of the fire are being investigated.
8 rescuers and 3 pieces of equipment were involved in extinguishing the fire.
