Suspects in a deadly brawl were detained in Mykolaiv
On Saturday evening, men beat and strangled a 25-year-old passerby; the police identified and detained the suspected attackers
On the evening of Saturday, March 14, in Mykolaiv on Kosmonavtiv Street in the yard of an apartment building, a group of men beat and strangled a 25-year-old local man; the suspects in the crime have been detained.
According to police, at approximately 23:00 a local resident reported a fight involving several men to the emergency line 102. Patrol units responded and found an unconscious man on the ground and summoned medics. Physicians performed resuscitation, but the victim could not be saved.
During urgent investigative actions, law enforcement officers identified all participants in the incident. It was established that the deceased was with acquaintances in the yard when a car pulled up and two 27-year-old men got out. A verbal dispute between the parties quickly escalated into a fight.
According to preliminary findings of the investigation, the attackers inflicted numerous blows to the victim’s torso with their hands and feet, after which they knocked him down and strangled him. The cause of death was mechanical asphyxia.
The perpetrators were detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and were notified of suspicion under para.12 of part 2 of Art.115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Intentional murder committed by a group by prior conspiracy.” The article’s sanction provides for punishment up to life imprisonment.
The court will soon determine a preventive measure for the suspects. The pre-trial investigation continues under the procedural supervision of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense of the Southern Region.
