Iran threatens strikes against Ukraine over Ukraine's support for Israel
The head of the Iranian parliament’s National Security Committee, Ibrahim Azizi, said that Kyiv’s support for Israel allegedly means drawing Ukraine into the war
In Iran, the head of the parliament’s National Security Commission, Ibrahim Azizi, said that Ukraine’s support for Israel could be interpreted as involving Kyiv in the war and become grounds for retaliatory actions by Tehran.
The official voiced this position while commenting on reports that Israel might provide assistance to Ukraine from its side, in particular in the field of unmanned (drone) technologies, which, according to the Iranian side, changes Ukraine’s status in the context of the regional confrontation.
According to Azizi, such a step by Kyiv would indicate an actual joining of the conflict. He stressed that in that case Tehran would perceive it as a threat to its security and reserves the right to take appropriate measures.
The official also referred to provisions of the UN Charter, stating that under such circumstances Ukraine, from Iran’s point of view, could be considered a “legitimate target”.
